Sherman Garnett is beginning his 37th year of service to public education. During this period of time, Sherman has served as a teacher, coach, dean, assistant principal and principal at both the comprehensive and alternative school level. For the past 14 years, Sherman has served as the coordinator of Child Welfare and Attendance in the office of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, the largest geographic county in the United States.

Additionally, Sherman serves as an adjunct faculty member at both Chapman University and California State University San Bernardino in the areas of school law and teacher training, an appointed member by the California State Superintendent to the school attendance review board (SARB) and is the author of two current extensive handbooks in the area of student discipline and student records published by his county office which he updates yearly. Sherman has presented at numerous local, state and national conferences in the area of truancy prevention, student discipline, student records and teacher assessment/climate.
