Professional Development Credit

Professional Development

CAWEE conferences and workshops meet WEE District Plan Assurance #14 requirements.

Professional Development: A provision is made for WEE professional development for new and continuing teacher coordinators and other support personnel in WEE, to ensure the quality of the WEE program (Education Code 51762).

Funding Sources

USC 2354 requires that career technical education programs provide professional development for WEE teachers, counselors, and administrators, including in-service and pre-service in state of the art career technical education programs and techniques. Several funds including Carl Perkins, Tech Prep, NCLB, Title 1 and 5, District General Funds, and District Buy Back Days along with other monies allotted to professional development or school improvement may be used to send you to this conference.

Professional Development Credit

CAWEE has arranged with the University of California at Riverside (UCR) extension program to offer (1) quarter unit of credit for attendance at CAWEE’s annual conferences/ trainings. Teachers must attend 10 hours of sessions during the two-day conference and submit a summary of what they learned from each workshop. The cost is $75 and is payable at the conference registration desk where you fill out the necessary forms and receive instructions.

The course can be repeated for credit as the course number changes at each conference. Teachers can request transcripts from UCR showing course completion to submit to your school district. Always check with your school district in advance to verify they will accept this for salary advancement or to show 10 hours of professional growth.

As CAWEE continues to develop additional workshops, the possibility of professional development credits will be explored.
